Damages to Rentals

The Edge Auto renter is completely liable and responsible for any damage to the Edge Auto rental vehicle and any third-party vehicle, property, or personal injury. We provide an optional Collision Damage Waiver at the time of rental. This waiver offers limited coverage protection for the Edge Auto rental vehicle only with an applicable deductible.

Edge Auto Quality Process

To ensure our fleet is of the highest visual and functional quality, we maintain a damages check with every rental.

  1. Before pickup, our team inspects the rental vehicle and takes up to 20 photos. These photos cover all angles and any existing damages to the vehicle. Photos may be taken hours in advance in order to speed up the pick-up process.
  2. After the vehicle is picked up by the renter, an email is sent to the teamster captain and members of the production staff. This email includes vehicle photos, the rental agreement including the date and time of vehicle pickup, and driver information.
Please note that we always advise drivers to inspect the vehicle before leaving the parking lot.
  3. When the vehicle is returned, we inspect it and take up to 20 photos of the vehicle. We also look for any new damage. We compare the vehicle in the state of its return to the photos we took at the beginning of the rental. We are then able to identify if there are any new damages to the vehicle.
  4. If new damages are identified, the teamster captain and production staff are notified right away by email with the photo evidence attached.
  5. Invoices are created and sent to production for payment.

Accidents & Damages: Procedure for Edge Auto Renters

If you damage your Edge rental, please follow this procedure:

  1. In most cases of an accident involving your Edge Auto rental vehicle, you will have to contact the police to make an official report. Even if no one is present (e.g. an accident involving a parked car or property), witnesses or video may record the incident which could be determined a “hit and run” incident. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime in every state. In the case of an accident involving an unattended vehicle or property, leave a note with (a) an explanation, (b) your rental contract number (BK1#), (c) your contact number, (d) Edge Auto’s third-party claims administrator (PMA Insurance at 1-888-476-2669), and (e) the police precinct and police report information.
  2. Immediately contact Edge Auto Customer Service at 212-947-EDGE and inform us of the incident. You can download the Damage Report here to be completed and returned to Edge Auto. Immediately contact your insurer and begin a claim if applicable.
  3. Do not put yourself in traffic or unsafe conditions. Carefully take pictures of the Edge Auto rental vehicle damage, third-party damage, and the scene of the accident. Please make sure license plates and vehicle ID numbers are in the photos. Please try to obtain video from a nearby source (e.g. gas station or business, residence, dash cam) of the accident and copy it to your phone or upload it directly.
  4. Exchange information with the third party if applicable. Use phones to exchange photos of driver’s licenses, registrations, your rental contract, and insurance information.
  5. Email photos and videos, the Edge Auto Damage Report, and the police report to Damages. Note: the full police report should be available to the driver after three business days.
  6. Edge Auto Damages staff will contact you for further information and follow-up.
